Review by Tenzin Norbu.
What was the Tibetan life before communist Chinese party invaded Tibet in 1950? Tibet is a country up north next to China, were in 1950 the communist Chinese party led by Mao Zedong invaded Tibet. Before all this happened, Tibet had declared independence from China since 1913. The Tibetans signed a seventeen point agreement affirming China's sovereignty over Tibet and providing an autonomous administration led by Dalai Lama in 1951. By 1959, the 14th
Dalai Lama fled to India.
In the book “Tibet is My Country: Autobiography of Thubten Jigme Norbu, Brother of the Dalai Lama as told to Heinrich Harrer” is a wonderful autobiography about Thubten Jigme Norbu. He will discover many things about himself such as he was a reincarnated lama and the discovery of his younger brother as the 14th Dalai Lama. There are many adventures from the family fleeing away from Tibet to India. Also many great memories of him with his brothers. It is a easily understandable autobiography to read and there are some great pictures that makes thereader feel like they are actually there with him. There are smaller details, and have a lot of
emotions when reading. This autobiography is for any age that would enjoy reading about the history of Tibet. It is really encourage readers to read this book because the life of Thubten Jigme Norbu and himself is interesting and special person, as well he was my grandfather. People should be more aware of the situation in Tibet, everyday Tibetans are getting imprisoned and getting killed because all they want is freedom. Free Tibet!
